The Southwest Florida Community Foundation - Collaboratory fosters growth in the collaboration between other not-for-profit agencies, technology minded start-ups, and the community at large. A renovation completed in 2018 created a place that reinforces the strengths of the historic structure while using the latest technology to inspire people to better work and collaborate.
The historic train station, originally designed by A.M. Griffin, Architect, was built in 1927 and was fully functional as a train station until 1971. Through its renovation, the historic building and the modern Collaboratory spaces, come together at a central hall. The central hall weaves through the historic arched loggia and occupies the space where the train tracks previously ran. This project opens up a portion of the loggia to give back a sense of how the building was originally used.
