Tallahassee School of Arts and Sciences features two classroom wings centered on a dog trot-style breezeway that allows the building to act as a gateway to the campus instead of an impermeable wall. Clerestory windows, set within exposed steel outriggers, flood the buildings with light. The use of colors and materials on the 2017 building tie together existing buildings on the campus, distilling the architectural language of the area into a memorable architectural product that’s visible even from fast-moving traffic on a nearby busy street.
