Built in 1957, Postcard Inn is U-shaped, 196-room property on nearly nine acres on St. Pete Beach. It has been a classic vacation destination known for being casual and hip over the decades. The hotel was first known as the Colonial Gateway Inn and was a U-shaped, two-story motel with a pool. It later became a Travel Lodge before becoming the Postcard Inn.
The Postcard Inn was renovated in 2005 with an eye toward creating a chic and bohemian atmosphere. During the renovation, it had to live up to three guiding principles, “It had to be fun, it had to be affordable, and it had to have the spirit of the locality.” No two rooms are alike, and they have a surfer feel – with bamboo paneling and glass bead curtains.
