Named after the 150-year-old jacaranda that stood on the buildings site, Avon Park's Hotel Jacaranda is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the area. It was built in the 1920s and is now listed on the National Historic Register. During World War II, the hotel housed hundreds of servicemen. Its ongoing restoration is incorporating a street-level business mall into the original design.
