The Southernmost House was built in 1896 by the daughter of the state’s first millionaire, William Curry, and her husband. It is an example of Queen Anne-style architecture, and Thomas Edison was commissioned to install electric lighting in the house located on the southern end of Key West’s Duval Street. Originally, the home had one bedroom on the second floor, but now the hotel has nine rooms and a zero-entry pool. The mansion is also a museum with eight letters signed by Ernest Hemingway and an oath of office signed by Lyndon B. Johnson aboard Air Force One to become the President after the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
