Miami Beach

Built in 1947.

First built in 1947 by George Sax and designed by architect Roy F. France and known as The Saxony when it opened in 1948. It was one of Miami Beach’s first luxury resorts and intended to be the epitome of modern glamour. Frank Sinatra, among other celebrities, performed at The Saxony. The now-Faena Hotel, named for the Argentine developer Alan Faena and opening in 2015, was designed by Alan Faena, film director/producer Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin.
