The owner wanted to remodel an existing Italian food restaurant space which
had dark and depressing interior spaces. The kitchen space had to be open to the
main dining room, and they requested all seating have a view of the kitchen. The
bar also had to be configured as a central attraction with four outside corners to
accommodate casual dining conversations.
The new dining area is designed to project daylight to the rear of the interior spaces,
which butt up to a movie theater (no windows.) The architect chose to vault the
center of the main dining area to direct attention to the kitchen opening and center
the bar. In the private dining, corner sliding doors open to connect patrons to the
action in the kitchen. Fire tables at the outdoor dining area extend the season.
