"REG Architects was retained by Seacoast Utility Authority to provide A&E services for a master-planned series of five building structures built to Risk Category IV:
•New administration building (19,000 SF).
•New break room with kitchen and indoor/ outdoor seating (1,230 SF).
•New operations laboratory and maintenance building (8,900 SF).
•New warehouse and fleet maintenance building (19,400 SF).
•Two new equipment storage facilities (18,750 SF)
Seacoast provides fresh and safe water for the local citizens of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The campus concept with interior courtyards allows for all team members to interact making it comfortable and accessible to the surrounding areas in a safe way for both employees and visitors. The construction was of reinforced, solid filled, masonry walls and concrete double T roof systems to achieve 180mph hurricane protection. This was in response to the client’s criteria to provide hardened structures that would also serve as an emergency operations center for the local emergency response teams during major storm events.
This project emphasizes the use of low buildings to reduce visual impact to the adjacent residential neighborhoods. The building’s location allows the existing facility to function until the new buildings were built including interiors finishes and furniture. The industrial and storage buildings to the rear, use a similar design language, material, and color scheme. The minimal Florida modern detail and restrained color pallet was influenced by the existing surrounding water plant service buildings and the tropical landscape setting of the final site plan."
